Honestly, I don't know where else to put this. I would have tried the Whatever sub-forum but I fear for it getting lost in the deep sea of spam.

Anyway~
I was wondering if there were any plans for a panel/meetup or if there was anyone else interested in meeting up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

NaNoWriMo is an event that takes place every year from November 1st to November 30th. Participants from all over the world battle against time to whip out 50,000 words of a novel in the time frame of one month. Sleep is lost, bodies are caffeinated at dangerously high levels, your inner editor dies, and you push yourself to write, write, WRITE. There is no prize for typing/writing out 50,000 words. Just the satisfaction of beating the deadline and a little webby sticker proclaiming you the winner.
More info available @ nanowrimo.org.

I thought it would be a fun idea to gather a group late at night on October 31st. People could support one another and we could have word wars. Some could bring/share snacks and caffeinated goodies as people mercilessly scribble and type their novels.

Yeah, I know that it really isn't related to Oni-Con or the anime/manga/Japanese pop culture scene. I was just getting pumped up for the official site's registration date approaching (October 1st) and realized that NaNoWriMo begins the same weekend as Oni-Con. Then, I got curious as to see if there were any other NaNoWriMo warriors out there going to Oni-Con.

That's why I think getting a group together would be awesome! We can support each other through our blank moments and bounce ideas off one another. Of course, no NaNoWriMo gathering would be complete without a good word war. Whoever has the highest word count at the end of the hour wins! Newbies can come, learn all about NaNoWriMo, and gain tips from the veterans.

50,000 words in 30 days does seem damn near impossible. Believe me. I only made it to 18,000+ words for my first NaNoWriMo. D: Every year, I make it my personal goal to write at least 2,000 words a day.

Don't worry! I'm always yelling and hitting my laptop during NaNoWriMo. MAKE MORE WORDS APPEAR, DAMMIT! It's totally normal behavior. XD

And since this event lasts through November, people can exchange emails/contacts in order to keep in touch and continue to help each other. Personally, I would not mind gaining a few more writing buddies. :)
