I was looking over the weapon policy in the rules section of Oni-Con, and I saw it said "No bladed items (swords, knives) are allowed." But I was wondering if that included wooden or other non-metal (such as some sort of plastic) swords? The way it sounded, it could be seen as just metal bladed or all bladed weapons, metal or not, and I just wanted to get this clarified before I got anything started.
What about toy guns? Even if they have an orange tip, will they be allowed?
I'm pretty sure toy guns are allowed (as long as they have the orange tip)
I would do something to it with paint or marker to make it obvious though, cause my friend brought a toy gun (though it had a red tip O.o) to Anime Matsuri and she had to put it away. I would've painted "THIS ISN'T A GUN. (it's a bazooka :3)" on it just to be obnoxious. xD
I see, lol. But anyway, don't know if you got your answer to the wooden, bladed weapons, yet, but i recall my friend going to onicon as zoro from one piece and was carrying around is home made wooden swords. So i guess they'll be ok, as long as they're not sharp.
I am curious about this question as well.
My costume is supposed to have a sword with it and I wonder if I will be allowed to bring one that is a platic toy sword? It's literally just for decoration I wouldn't be waving it around unless a photoshoot is going on and they want me to pose with it or something. Haha!
If I remember correctly, bladed only refers to live steel. I'm pretty sure wooden props are ok, as well as gun props as long as they are fake with the brightly colored tips/tape.
Sorry for the necro, but I feel this is relevant - what about airsoft guns with orange tips and barrel covers? I can source toy guns if need be, but I have perfectly good AEGs I'd rather just toss a barrel cover on and be done with.
Also, what's the policy on fake magazines? I have some airsoft mags I plan to use to fill out parts of a costume, as well as mock hand grenades, but I doubt those are verboten.
